The Cantillon Conference
2025
Master of Ceremonies
It was an honour to be MC for this year’s Cantillon Conference in Tralee on February 13th. I had hosted the 2024 conference, and enjoyed it hugely, so I was delighted to be invited back for 2025.
There are conferences, and there are conferences. This one is special. It’s about economics, broadly speaking, in honour of the founder of modern economics Richard Cantillon who was born in Ballyheigue.
But in fact, it’s about a lot more than economics. This year’s theme was ‘Leadership Rewired’ and we had some incredible speakers on the podium giving us their thoughts on that.
These were :
- John Fahey, Senior Economist at AIB;
- Brian Kelly, founder of the Murasaki consultancy;
- Professor Felicity Kelliher, Professor of Management Practice at SETU;
- Major General (Retired) Maureen O’Brien;
- Fiona Stack, General Manager Radio Kerry
- Professor Mary Horgan, Ireland’s Chief Medical Officer;
- Dr Saranna Fanning, Assistant Professor in Neurology at Harvard Medical School;
- John Barron, co-founder of the movement promotion company GoChallenge.
Here are some of the key take-home messages submitted by participants (via Slido) at the end of the conference:
- Be the Solution
- Invite young people onto the board of your organisation
- Reverse Mentoring
- Time to Act
- Time to Rethink
- Time to Move
- The Imperfect Plan is still a plan
- Collaborate
- Take that step
- Experiment
- Speed up
- Disruptive Innovation by looking at the simple and rethinking
- Embrace a multi-culture mindset
- Stimulate the brain with a 10 minute desk pilates exercise
- Travel and expand the mind

What Clients Say
“I couldn’t recommend My Media highly enough. Grett’s incredible communication skills, imagination and tireless effort, took our run of the mill powerpoint presentation and translated it to an engaging video piece which we were delighted to launch.”
“Grett was an excellent coach for my first online interview. Her advice and guidance greatly improved my communications skills and gave me the confidence to present myself in this unfamiliar forum. I have no doubt her input greatly assisted in my success.”
